Getting indexed by Google fast is every blogger and webmasters dream.

As everyone knows, Google is the biggest search engine online and once your site is indexed by them, the other engines will find you also.

The most obvious way is to use Google to get your website/blog noticed.

The How To

Google Webmaster Tools – sign up for a free account and add your site map. To help get you started, take a look at the information about adding a site. There is also great information called Webmaster Guidelines to help  you understand what the search engine wants from your site.

Google Analytics – Install this free website analytical code on your site to track your visitors.

You can also sign up for Google Adsense as long as your site is not against the TOS (terms of service). You don’t have to start putting ads on your site, but can help with getting your site crawled by Google bot.

Article Submission – Sign up with ezinearticles.com (one of the biggest directories) and write a good quality keyword rich article within your niche. Take advantage of the resource box and put a few links to your site.  Don’t just add a link to your homepage, but also put a link to one of the sub-pages also (if it is relevant to your article).

Find a forum that is within your niche and once you sign up, place a link to your website within the signature area and answer questions within the forum.  Sometimes this does not work as many of the forums are starting to block signatures until you have hit so many posts. But if within your niche, keep answering questions until you reach that.

Find blogs that are related to your niche area and leave good comments on them. Most webmasters will let you leave a link to your site.

YouTube -Create an account about your niche and create an informative video. You can use the info area to place a link back to your site.

Squidoo page – create a lens and place useful information for people and link back to your site.

Yahoo Answers – You can answer questions and use the source area to link back to your site.

Remember, when you are leaving your links at different places, make sure you are not spamming as they will be deleted very quickly.

By using the above techniques, many people have been indexed in less than 24 hours and others it has taken weeks. So your results will vary.

You can use Google Webmaster Tools and the Analytical Stats to see how your progress is doing.

Even when you are indexed by Google, it may take time to show up in the top pages of the SERP (search engine results page) if the keyword you are trying to rank for is very competitive.

Free Traffic to Your Site

If you have not already, create a sitemap then open a free account with Google Webmaster Tools to submit your URL.

If you need help with creating a sitemap and adding your URL to the search engines, check out my website promotion information.

If you have a website, then add a blog to it. Do a little keyword research and use a long tail key phrase (4 words or more) to write blog posts.

Because the long tail key phrases are not highly searched, many times it is easier to achieve higher rankings in the search engines.

But do not use just the search engines to help you generate all your site traffic.

You need to diversify.

Social Media – Use Myspace and Facebook (just to name a few) to find traffic that is interested in your niche.

Write Articles – Submit them to the many different article directories. Just make sure that if you are submitting to a few of the different directories, change the articles about 60% so each submission will be original content.

E-mails – Add a signature line to all outgoing e-mails you send.

Write Press Releases for your blog or website.

YouTube – At the beginning and end of the videos you created within your niche, put your site URL.  Don’t forget when you set up your account to put in your blog/website URL.

Use a ping service – like Ping-o-Matic

Use forums to find out what some of the most commonly asked questions within your niche and create a blog post.

When writing a blog post or even a new web page, use the title to ask a question.

These are just a few of the ideas for getting traffic to your website.

Don’t Be Fooled

You don’t need to have any special skills to help you build your own website but you do need to have the motivation to make it a success.

There are some great services online that will build a site for you, but if you do go that route, learn the basic information about creating a site.

If you are trying to get a higher search engine ranking,  you probably have seen the term “Google Pagerank” or “Google PR”.

Read on for an explanation of what Google Page Rank is and how it affects your search engine rank.

In very simple terms a page rank is an indicator of the quality of a particular page on website. By quality, it is not about the number of links to a certain web page but also other certain criteria that Google will not release.

Google Pagerank is a whole number from 0 – 10, as 10 is the highest quality and 0 is the lowest.

Here is a free tool to check Google page rank on any web page.

When your checking PR, what you will see is for that page only, not the whole site.

You can also download the Google Toolbar.

Once you download, you will see the PR area and if toolbar is gray, that page has no PR.

If your website has pages on it that have a grey toolbar this could mean that

• The page is new and Google does not know about it OR
• The page may contains duplicate content OR
• Your website may have been de-indexed from Google

If the toolbar is white, you have a page rank of zero. A PR 0  is very common for a new website or a new web page.

Google  usually updates the page rank on the toolbar every few months so if you have a new website it may take  several months for page rank to show on the toolbar.

Google does  updating pagerank of sites on an ongoing basis, so the page rank shown on the toolbar is not a true pagerank, it is just a snapshot of your page rank from a given time.

Increase Google Page Rank

To increase your page rank you need high quality backlinks to your web pages.

A backlink is simply an incoming link from another website to your own site.

The best way to get links naturally is by writing good content that other webmasters will want to link to your site.

But most webmasters build backlinks by distributing articles, submitting their website to directories, exchanging links, distributing press releases, commenting on blogs etc.  More information on website promotion.

It is not just the number of backlinks that count towards page rank, it’s also the quality of these links.

For example, a link from a PR6 page could increase your chances of getting a higher page rank, more than say, a link from a PR4 page.

The number of links on the page that is linking to you also affects how much page rank is passed on to your web page. A link from a page that has 5 quality links on it is of more value than a link from a page with 40 links on it.

Google Page Rank can play an important part in how a web page is ranked in Google’s search engine results. But, depending on the keyword search terms,  I have seen web pages that are PR 1 appear on the first page of SERP (search engine results page) with PR 5 and above sites.

Page rank can be a useful indicator of how popular a web page is, but it is only part of the equation.

So, take note of your website’s page rank, but don’t think that once you get a PR2 or PR 4 you will automatically be in the top pages in the SERP.

It is more important that your traffic is increasing, not your page rank.

If you are a clickbank affiliate and are not having any success making money from their products, you are missing one key ingredient.

Market Research.

Many new affiliates start to promote products from clickbank’s  marketplace with high gravity because it shows those are the products that are making other affiliates a ton of money.

What many affiliates don’t realize is no matter what niche you are in, it doesn’t matter how much keyword research you do, all your efforts of making money using clickbank products (or any merchants products) will be lost if you are not doing market research within your niche.

I am not saying that keyword research is not important. It is very important. But market research is just as important to your success of earning money on the internet.

Because if you don’t also do market research, then you are not building your affiliate business on a solid foundation.

Many say there are no secrets in the affiliate business it just takes a lot of hard work to make money online.  I say bull.

Let me ask you, “How many “internet guru’s” are telling you how and where to do the market research you need to dominate clickbank (or any affiliate product you are promoting)?

None!

Why is this?

Simple. They don’t want you to know. They have kept this information to themselves because it has made them a lot of money online.

Don’t Work Harder, Work Smarter!

Maybe you have already built a website, put good original content, did some off-page and on-page SEO,  and you still are not making any money online.

To make money online many people jump right in before they are properly prepared. You know that to be a rocket scientist, a doctor, a brick layer, a construction worker, an office worker, a teacher there are prerequisites, things you must learn, before you can be successful, you don’t just jump right in unprepared.

The same applies to the Internet marketing industry even though there are unsavory people out there who’d have you believe it’s a “Walk in the Park” and requires no more than the belief that you can just do it.

And I’ll have to admit, it is a walk in the park compared to what you have to put up with in the working world punching a clock being a subordinate to someone who does not have your interests in mind, but there are still rules you have to follow and pitfalls you must avoid to actually make Internet marketing work for you.

Most people will not make a dime online and yet there are others who will make more in one month than most people make in a whole year. Why is that?

My answer begins with the age-old chicken or egg question, “what comes first the chicken or the egg”? Personally I vote for, well never mind, each argument you or I make comes back to the same old conclusion – I have no clue and I don’t think many of us do either.

Internet marketing work is typically not all that difficult or time consuming but it does take motivation caused by Passion to get you off and running with a sustained effort so that you won’t stumble.

Comments like, well, that one sounds good and the compensation plan is excellent so I guess I’ll start that business – does not sound like a decision based on anything near Passion. And remember when you hear that an Internet “guru” does that, don’t be tempted, because as I said earlier they are experienced and can sell just about anything, without being Passionate about the company products and services.

Note: By the way it’s your goal to get to the point where you can sell about anything online. That end skill and goal is a worthy one indeed.

Remember, there are other steps you must make before you step into Internet Marketing but if you don’t first find the right company products and services to be passionate about, all of those other steps may just cause you a lot of frustration instead of bringing you great success.

Not being Passionate about a company and products and services that has market proof that it will sell is a pitfall you simply must avoid.

While creating your website – the most difficult challenge that many webmaster have is…

Time Management.

It does not matter if you are an experienced webmaster or just starting out. The time restraints you have while building can make the best laid plans can go on the wayside.

We all have had the problem of jumping from one project to another to another and after the week (or month) you start to realize you did not accomplish anything you wanted to.

1. Write down your tasks

The many tasks you do while building your site take on a whole different meaning when you may only have a few hours a day to actually accomplish them.

To help with the time management challenge, write down the jobs you need to work on for your site. Whether this is link building, blogging, create new pages in your web site, keyword research that needs to be done, etc.

This information needs to be written down where you can view it daily to help keep the time monster harnessed.

I have cleaned off everything not important from my computer desktop and created a new folder called: TASKS TO DO. I capitalize this and put it right in the middle of the computer screen so it catchs my eye over all the other stuff also on my desktop.

I then open my MSWord and title the page: Tasks To Do.

If you are working on a few different websites, try to keep the information on 1 page. Just bold the website names, then put the task below them.

By keeping everything on one page, you can do a quick scan of what needs to be done.

2. Prioritize

This may sound difficult and somewhat time consuming but can help you “gain time” while working on your projects.

An easy way to help you prioritize your projects is to use a two week cycle. Set aside one day to work on a certain project.

The two biggest projects for building a website is creating new content and link building.

Here is a breakdown of how you could prioritize a two week period for creating new blog post, web pages and link building.

Monday: Research for keywords to be used in a new web page or blog post. Can’t think of any? Study your website analytical stats or look at your competition.

Tuesday: Write a few sentences of information you would like to put into the new web page and see what others have written about using the main keyword.

Wednesday: Use the information from Monday and Tuesday to create your new page or blog.

Thursday: Use Keyword Research from Monday to create an article for directories to help with link building. Don’t send to article directory until tomorrow.

Friday: Re-read your web page and article, make any changes.

Saturday: Go through your “To Do List” and see if you able to cross anything off the list.

Sunday: Enjoy your time with family, friends, a good book or movie. Take time for YOU!

Monday: Look for a few other sites you could link with and contact their webmaster.

Tuesday: Research other avenues to help you get quality links: social media, article directories, etc.

Wednesday: Look at your competition. (this could be done everyday, but can get very time consuming). Look at older web pages and blog posts to see the keywords they used as it may help create you create a new blog post or page with updated information. (main keyword could be researched next Monday)

Thursday: Research for that new e-book or any other big project that you would like to tackle in the next couple of weeks.

Friday: Take a look at your “To Do List”. Add new projects and take away any completed.

Saturday: Search around for new content for your site/blog.

Sunday: Enjoy your time with family, friends, a good book or movie. Take time for YOU!

3. Keep Up With The List

No matter what type of projects are on the list, they still have steps that need to be done in order before they are completed. By thinking of what order the steps needs to be done, it will help you build your 2 week cycle.

By focusing on one or two project at a time in a two week cycle, you will find your projects will be done and at the end of the week (or month) you have the satisfaction of knowing you have managed your time.
